EPROM is proud to present the Rwina Records Label Showcase featuring:

.:James Zoo:.

with an opening set by

.:Danny Corn:.

In Morocco, where label owner Akka was born, Rwina mean chaos – a sentiment that he has looked to infuse into the labels sound. Over the past 5 years, Rwina has come to be known as a forward thinking electronic music label, releasing stellar content from the likes of EPROM, Desto, Jameszoo, Taz, NastyNasty, Torus and Akka. With a non-stop flow of physical and digital releases, as well as events throughout Europe, their reputation across the world continues to grow.

EPROM is one of the vibrant West-Coast scene’s most colourful characters and an important cog in the international Rwina machine. A consummate post-millennial producer, he’s had releases on Warp, Surefire, and Bristol-based Bad Acid, but it’s his Rwina releases that have been the most visible and enduring. His live sets are something to behold, emphasizing the hip-hop roots that lurk underneath his sewer beats, and an hour of EPROM is bound to turn your brain into to the same sort of goo that gums the gears of his distinctive beats.

It would seem as if Amsterdam-based DJ, producer, and above-all, Rwina Records overlord Chafik Chennouf better known as Akka has the Midas Touch, because everything he touches turns to, if not gold, brilliantly neon explosions of colour and exuberance.

Akka’s musical talent extends beyond managing the respected Rwina label, however. His latest release, a three-track EP inspired by his roots in the Amazigh culture of Morocco, has found support from DJs like Mark Pritchard, DJ Shadow, Kutmah and Gaslamp Killer. In addition, he’s a formidable DJ whose varied but impeccable taste makes him dependable for a great set every time. His sets are loaded with dubplates from the scenes hottest producers, and he always delivers the dancefloor gold.

A committed crate-digger and cognoscente of avant-garde jazz, Jameszoo recently moved into production work on the acclaimed Rushhour label and Rwina Records. His releases join the dots between influences like Hermeto Pascoal, Sun Ra, and the leftfield electronic music of the LA and European scenes, creating a sound that’s
as colorful and forward-thinking as it is chaotic and experimental. He has remixed artists like Nightmares on Wax for Warp and Shlohmo, collaborated with St Louis singer Coultrain, Thundercat and recently convinced legendary Brazilian guitarist Arthur Verocai to hit the
studio for a few sessions. With ancient-to-future power moves like these already under his belt, it’s safe to say that this zookeeper is a unique breed of astral animal.

RBMA graduate Joeri Woudstra has managed to strike a unique chord in a short time by defining his own sonic aesthetic and exploring the potentials within. It’s this approach that has earned him praise from the international music press, with the likes of XLR8R, Mixmag, Noisey, DJ Mag and even UK broadsheet The Guardian all chiming in to compliment the organic, dreamy machine-made beauty of Woudstra’s music.

In collaboration with local visual artists Prism Lab and Adapt Lighting, the night promises to be an audio/visual experience that does not come to town often.
